We are proud to use Huggies nappies in our arrangements, as they are renowned for their high standards, safety features, and comfort for babies. Huggies has a range of products for different ages and sizes so you can choose the perfect nappy for your gift box.
There are a few reasons why Huggies nappies might be more comfortable for babies than other brands. One reason could be the shape and fit of the nappy. Huggies are designed to fit snugly around the waist and legs, which can help prevent uncomfortable wetness.
Another reason could be the material that the nappy is made from. Babies have delicate skin, so you want to make sure you're using products that won't irritate them. That's why the range we use is so great – Huggies are free from harmful chemicals and fragrances, and they're breathable so your little one stays comfortable.

Before you get pregnant:
Relax. Take time out for yourself. This can be as simple as doing something you love and/or doing something fun with your kids. I know every new parent wants to do whatever they can for their children, but this doesn't mean they don't need their own space sometimes. But it's not just about taking a break from your children. Taking time out allows you to recharge and re-find the peace that comes with being present in the moment. Catch up on the things that matter most to you, whether it's watching your favorite TV shows or spending quality time with family and friends.
I'm sure we're only human and that's ok. But it's important to remember that with time comes confidence and with confidence comes peace of mind! You're doing an amazing job as a new mommy and don't forget it.
Motherhood is a journey of self-discovery, life lessons, and understanding your place in the world. It's hard work but if you're doing things with love and support from those close to you then parenting will be so much easier.
Be yourself as a mother, be your best self. Be gentle with yourself. Be present. Be in the moment.

New life comes with many responsibilities. A newborn baby is just like any other child, and it takes time for the parents to get used to that. There are certain things that you must remember when you have a newborn in your house.
The first few days are crucial in establishing a good bond between the parents and their child. Make sure that you spend quality time with your baby during those early days so that they feel comfortable with their surroundings and environment. Also, make sure that you do not keep them on your lap for too long because it will cause them to become dependent on your body heat and protection!
As parents, we need to understand that after the birth of your newborn, your relationship with your partner may suffer.
Even though you can't control what happens to your relationship, here are some tips for improving it after the baby has arrived:

]]>Birth stories, every mum has one, some good and some not so good. When I was pregnant I felt like all I heard was horror stories of birth (and pregnancy for that matter). Unfortunately, I don't have the best birth experience. At the time it was scary and traumatic, I don’t say this to scare anyone just to encourage you to listen to your intuition and whatever you do, if you’re almost due, take your baby bag to the hospital!
I had a birth plan, like many pregnancy books tell you to do. I wanted a natural birth, minimal pain relief and if possible a water birth. I wanted to embrace the moment of my baby coming into the world. The problem with birth plans however is that if they don’t go to plan you can be left extremely disappointed.
My baby was extremely active in utero so when his movements started to slow down I was a little concerned. It was a Thursday when the movements started to reduce but I got checked by the midwife and everything appeared normal so I thought to myself I must just be paranoid. By the Saturday morning I woke up convinced something wasn’t right but I still just kept telling myself I was worrying over nothing, “he was fine 3 days ago and nothing would have changed”. Later that night there was barely any movement at all and I decided to go into the hospital. I told my husband not to worry about taking the bag, we would probably be sent home. I was 36 weeks and we lived 20km from the hospital what was I thinking?!!?
After being assessed by the doctor, I was told I would have to have an emergency c section as my son’s heart rate kept dropping and he would not survive induction. Due to a medical condition, I couldn’t have an epidural and I would need to be under general anesthetic. As I was getting ready for theatre my husband raced home to get the bag. I was assured when I woke hubby and baby would be next to me. When I woke up they weren’t there. Tom had a ‘code blue’ was taken to the NICU for intubation and emergency blood transfusions. My placenta had ruptured and he was bleeding into my blood stream. Tom was born at 3:30 am and at 6:30 pm I got to meet him, those hour’s in between felt like a lifetime.
He spent nine days in the hospital and then we were lucky enough to take our healthy little miracle baby home.
It can be easy to focus on the negative and the disappointment of a traumatic birth and everything that went wrong. But now I focus on what went right. When wee tom was born he was in the best hands, he was saved by the medical staff and at the end of the day, that’s all that matters.
Please always listen to your gut, go and get checked if you sense something's wrong. And get checked again if a few days’ time if you still feel something is wrong. Listen to the doctors they have you and the baby’s best interested in mind. And whatever you do take your baby bag to the hospital!
As a busy mother you know how time poor we can be. We never seem to have time on our hands to get all the necessary chores done or even plan the week ahead. I was like you, getting frustrated with myself with how I was scrambling through the weekly shopping, not having a clue on how to be organised and never knowing what I was going to prepare for dinner. I decided to get organized and created weekly planners.
My weekly planners are available in a printable digital form. You just print them, laminate them, use them, wipe them clean and reuse them again. These weekly planners have been a real time-saver, they force me to be organized and they help you save money. Yes, you read right, money……………. I’ll explain how.
1. Weekly Menu Planner
So my weekly menu planner allows you to plan your weekly / weekend meals ahead whether it is dinner or lunch. I get my kids to write down one day of the week what they want me to cook, to make sure they eat what is offered. Once you have planned your menu you move to the next planner.
2.Weekly Shopping List
Based on your menu you put your shopping list together. Anything that is missing from the fridge you just pencil in. Use wipe-off markers that you can easily scrub off from the laminate. Take a picture and you can refer the list when you go shopping. You buy what you need, i.e. what is required for the menu and this helps you avoid impulse purchases as an extra tip you can check your local shops for specials when planning your menu.
3. Pantry Stock Planner
Just enter all the things you are missing or low on in the pantry as you go along. Just write them down on the planner and again, take a picture when you go shopping. A good tip is to make a pantry audit when you start, get rid of any unused and out of date stuff. I know we all have some in our cupboards!!
4. Weekly To-Do List
For when you have a dentist appointment, kids’ hobbies/sports, coffee meetings with a friend, date night etc. Whatever it is just pencil it in on the planner. Once done, wipe clean and put the next week's to-do list on this handy calendar.
We have our weekly planners on the pantry cupboard or on the fridge door. My husband refers to it to see what is going on during the week and if he needs to come home early so he won’t miss a footy practice. There you go, weekly planners that save you time and money.
You can follow Susanna on www.thenordicmum.com where you can sign up for the FREE planners or you can follow her on her Instagram handle @thenordicmum where she shares her tips.

I believe creativity is our birthright. From the moment babies take their food and smear it across the kitchen table, stack blocks or wiggle their little bottoms to their mama’s dishwashing tunes, creativity has begun. Over the years, I have heard the conundrum parents face:
Let’s start with the stereotypical adult who doesn’t feel very creative. Inside of you is a child aching to do something different with your day. Aching to throw a wrench in the monotony of life and find the zest for life that seems to have taken a walk in the woods and got lost. Maybe you will find it refreshing to hear my favourite definition of creativity. The thought provoking writer, Elizabeth Gilbert describes creativity as
Take a deep breath and reread that last sentence. If you received a typical education, this definition is fresh and liberating! How simple! How freeing! Living a creative life is not about being an elite part of the human race gifted with incredible talents. It is not about the ability to apply colours uniquely to a canvas, crafting words on a page to sell billions of copies or writing a song that goes viral on YouTube.
Creative living is engaging with the mysteries of inspiration. It’s about making decisions based on curiosity rather than fear. (Ok…I wish I could take credit for that last sentence as well, however, that’s also from Liz Gilbert lol) But seriously, how can I write a blog telling you of the incredible benefits painting does for children, without first helping release the caregivers of these children from the misconceptions that often keep adults from engaging with their own creativity in the first place.
If I only told you how art increases a child’s ability to communicate, their emotional wellbeing, motor skills and so on, you would be excited for a day or two of activities before the next blog on food or exercise caught your attention and you forget about the art because of all the sensory overload you are exposed to in any given day. Which by the way is currently 34 gigabytes worth of data DAILY.
Leave your inner critic away from your creative space. When a child is painting, ask them specific questions about their work, such as “can you tell me why you chose to cover this side with red and that with black?” Refrain from telling them to do more if they say “finished”…even if it is simply a mere squiggle across the page, as it is vital for a child to know that what they have created is enough. If the child is intimidated easily, then make sure to avoid doing art with them as they will only compare themselves to you and quickly leave the space feeling inadequate. Allow their confidence to build.
So the next time you have a pen in your hand at the board meeting by all means DOODLE! The next time you place a meal on a plate, do it with love and creative placement. The next time you hear a beat, shake that ass. And by all means, sing in the shower so loud the kids are surprised. Your life is a blank canvas…by all means get some paint on it.
If your answer was yes, you are not alone.
Over 5 million Australians experience problems with controlling their bladder and bowel. Urinary incontinence affects up to 13% of men and 37% of women. (Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, 2006).
Now the great news is that there is more talk about incontinence as the topic is becoming less taboo. Incontinence is less seen as merely just a part of being a woman, a mother or aging. It is a step forward that many people know that it is important to do your kegels. So what are kegels? Kegels are pelvic floor muscle strengthening exercises done to treat urinary incontinence and improve sexual function.
Yes, there is research which confirms that pelvic floor muscle training is beneficial for improving urinary incontinence if done CORRECTLY. Like any other type of muscle training, the technique and the approach is vital to ensure the best results. Would you expect to strengthen your bicep if you were to do 1- 5 light bicep curls randomly every few weeks, a few quick, a few slow, whilst your attention is on something else? The answer is no, like anything done well in life there must be an intention and simply doing your kegels here and there will not benefit you.
Here are 3 keys to kegels:
KNOWLEDGE of your body
Though the pelvic floor is out of sight, it should not be out of mind. To achieve mind muscle connection, we firstly must have knowledge of our own body to understand the pelvic floor and the function. Picture the pelvic floor as a trampoline which consists of muscles and connective tissue which form the base of the pelvis. There are different muscles of the pelvic floor which attach from the front of the pelvis (pubic bone) to the back (coccyx). The muscles also attach to the sides of the pelvis to each sit bone (ischial spine). There are 3 holes in the pelvic floor of a woman which allow passage from front to back of the urthera which connects to the bladder, the vagina with connects to the uterus and the rectum which connects to the bowel.
Top view of the female pelvic diaphragm and deep pelvic floor muscles
The functions of the pelvic floor:
Side view of the female pelvic floor and surrounding anatomy
AWARENESS of your pelvic floor muscles
Now that you have a brief understanding of the pelvic floor anatomy and function, the next important step is to be able to engage and relax your pelvic floor muscles.
Remember:
There are many different cues, imagery and methods when doing a kegel so remember that everyone is different and it is important to find what works best for you. Here are just some examples:
SPECIFICITY of your kegel program
The pelvic floor muscles are like any other muscle in the body. To build tone and strength you need the correct amount of load and it needs to be specific to the functional activities that you require. Strengthening can take up to 3-5months of consistently progressed exercise.
Do you find it difficult to endure long travelling or find yourself struggling to hold on till you find a toilet?
Do you leak with sudden increases of intra-abdominal pressure e.g. coughing, sneezing, lifting?
Knowledge, awareness and specificity are the keys to kegels. You aren’t alone and there is help out there. Remember, these are just general guidelines to inform and educate and does not replace professional advice. Every woman's body is different and not everyone will benefit from pelvic floor exercises as there are many other factors which can cause incontinence. To ensure pelvic floor training is appropriate for you to consult a qualified pelvic floor physiotherapist.

In December 2018, pop’d was launched (www.popd.com.au). pop’d quickly became Australia’s #1 marketplace & directory for pregnancy, babies & kids – with well over 1,500 amazing products & services for new mums and mums to-be! Sarah Hudson, mum of 1 and bonus mum of 2, shares why she created pop’d and how she hopes it will help mums and mums-to-be.
What is pop’d?
pop’d is an Australian marketplace and services directory for all things pregnancy, babies & kids! On pop’d you can:
Why did you start this business?
In January 2018, our beautiful baby girl was born. After we came out of the newborn fog, I realised how lucky we’d been to have had a lot of professional support during pregnancy and the newborn period. We’d found a great obstetrician, birthing classes, sleep consultant, sleepsuits, and comforters, and that’s just the start of the list. But it felt like I’d found out about these wonderful services and products by accident! Most mums I knew didn’t know that many of these services & products existed.
What else was out there that I hadn’t been aware of? A huge amount, I’ve since found out: pregnancy massage, prenatal fitness classes, maternity photography, private midwives and doulas, infant first aid classes, professional car seat installers, pelvic floor physios, and so much more…
What will be available for our sweet bub as she grows? Again, a huge amount: unique clothes, toys & bedroom decor, a wide range of baby music classes, sensory classes and swimming classes, local family photographers, fun activities to do, & much (much!) more…
So, midway through my maternity leave, I decided to leave my very satisfying management consulting career and launch pop’d. pop’d is a simple concept with a big aim: to help Australian mums connect with a comprehensive range of products and local services to support them as they go through their uniquely incredible journey of pregnancy, babies, and kids.
Who uses pop’d?
pop'd is loved by pregnant women, and mums of babies and toddlers. First-time mums & mums-to-be love pop’d because we help them discover the many great products & services providers out there who are there to help them & their precious babies. Mums of more than one love us because we help them quickly find fantastic products, services & activities to make their lives easier.
What does the future hold for pop’d?
We’re excited to be adding fantastic products and services for pregnancy, babies & kids every day! There’s always great new products, services & activities to discover to help you along with your pregnancy & parenting journey! Check us out now at www.popd.com.au!

]]>I knew Don from @plussizetofunsize through her nappy cake purchase from NappieCakes.com.au I started following her and I realised that her determination on losing weight is so inspiring. I invited her to guest blog for me about determination and the 'Why' behind her Instagram. When I first received her writing, I was in tears. I had no idea the hardship she went through to get to where she is now...
Here is her story...
Life as a mum is hectic. We often put ourselves on the back burner while we raise our family and get established in life.
Mid 2017 I decided it was time to put my health as a priority, my weight had been gaining slowly over the last ten years. I had been diagnosed with a few health problems and it became necessary to take action.
I decided on getting the gastric sleeve surgery and started the ball rolling and I was so excited! I was doing everything I needed to make sure it was as drama free for my kids and husband as possible.
I had my Pap smear done, 6 months before my gastric sleeve surgery.
48 hours later I had a call that it was abnormal and to come in for follow up. I was referred to a gynecologist for more testing. My children were 12,14,14 & 16. I’m a busy mum!
My gynecologist told me my cells came back as CIN111 which is a high-grade pre-cancer, so I needed a procedure called an LLETZ to remove these cells and I’d be able to get on with my life and my prep for my gastric sleeve.
When I had the procedure, I didn’t even take my husband to my appointment or even tell my kids and it was fine, I was awake in the chair and I had zero pain. I wasn’t freaking out about my future or health, I was good.
Two weeks later I had to call for my results. They transferred my call to the head nurse, ‘Donna, the doctor has requested you come in for your results. You need to be here tomorrow at 10 am. I fell apart! I was driving whilst on the car Bluetooth for this conversation and I had to pull over to park. I called my husband right away and I was screaming. I knew it was bad.
The next day I was sat down and the doctor said ‘I’m sorry, unfortunately it’s cancer.’ I don’t know what she said next but I remember leaving with two forms for scans I had to have immediately to see how bad this was. We found out a week and a half later that it was stage 1b1 invasive squamous cell carcinoma.
Telling my children I had cancer and I had to start radiation/ chemotherapy the day after my 34th birthday was the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. Hearing your children cry themselves to sleep because they don’t want their mum to die is an image I’ll never forget. The nightmares I had of my husband finding me dead still occur.
After 8 weeks in total of 25 x external radiation, 5 x chemotherapy and 3 x brachytherapy. My weight climbed to 168.5 kg.
One month later I had my gastric sleeve surgery, 30th October 2018 and 6 months later I’m cancer free and down almost 40kg.
If I leave any impact in my life to anyone, it will be to don’t put yourself on the back burner. We matter now. We need our smears now. We need to be healthy now. Don’t think that you will do the smear when the kids are older or when we have more time. My Cervical cancer had nothing to do with my weight, but I do wish I was healthier before I was diagnosed.
It was truly a hard time I’m still trying to heal from. I’m 34 and in full blown menopause and I’m learning about my body all over again. I have chronic pain daily in my pelvis and bowel. My vaginal canal has stenosis and I have to use dilators every second day to keep the access to my cervix for future smears. Every second day for the next 40 years. That’s my reality.
Nevertheless, I am happy. I am healthy. I have survived.

Autism is different for everyone. Providing the right support requires understanding individual strengths, interests and aspirations. There are no one-size fits all solution.
I am very passionate about this cause because my cousin has Level 3 autism and I can see how difficult it is for people around him to understand his needs. With the appropriate care from family and community, he is now 19 years old and a true adult. I solute my Auntie for her patience, love and attention to detail in caring for a loving soul.
This cause creates an understanding and acceptance for people with the autism spectrum. That is why I believe in this cause so deeply.
Nappie Cakes formed a team with their Brand Ambassador and Brand Reps for the first time in 2019 fundraising for 'Walk for Autism'. Our team has raised $611.00 for during the course of this amazing Charity.
If you are interested to donate. It is never too late, every little bit helps.

]]>A Nappy Cake is a creative and practical gift for newborn parents. Think of it as a gift pack with all the baby essentials.
For example, a traditional Nappy Cake would be a tiered nappy cake filled with baby essentials such as nappies, receiving blanket, towel, face washer, bath duck, bib or even a headband.
At NappieCakes.com.au we do things out of the ordinary, we like to incorporate the essentials into the design. For example, our signature Nappy Owl.
Every single baby needs disposable nappies and you can never have enough. Did you know that a newborn baby can be change up to 12 times a day!
A baby shower is a party of gift-giving, it celebrates an expected birth of a child, the transformation of a woman into a mother. A Nappy Cake will be a perfect gift to leave them a lasting memory.
NSW Health department suggests that it is important to get whooping cough vaccination to protect a newborn baby. If you are not vaccinated, you can still show them your love by sending them a Nappy Cake. Click here for more information on vaccination.
Who said that Nappy Cakes are just for a newborn? Instead of giving them a REAL Cake Smash for their 1-year birthday photography session, you can give them a Nappy Cake to smash to save the washing up and the sugar high!
NappieCakes.com.au's Nappy Cakes are stylish, fun and creative. It is becoming a popular gift to give a new parent in a hospital/ baby shower or as maternity leave farewell present in Australia. Our Nappy Cakes stand out from the crowd, giving one as a gift will create a lasting memory.
